Billion dollar firms (or at least used to be). You'd think they'd invest a couple thousand in to an interesting logo. Too busy being greedy i guess.</description>

How about looking at it from another perspective though. If we really want to connect a company logo to the company's value and potential (theoretically, of course), then I'd rather put it this way:

The logo is not an essential factor in corporate rating, merely an indicator of the skills of the person who chose it, if we assume that a great design choice implies an overall better sense of business.</description>
