    Steps to Register Trademark Logo

trademark logoTo register a trademark logo some necessary steps should properly be performed. If you have already made your company’s logo or the logo for your client, be sure to follow the following steps for registering trademark logo.

    1) The first and foremost step that has to be taken to successfully register trademark logo is to do a design search. A design search refers to performing an authenticity research of the logo so that it does not contravene upon an already existing company logo design. This can be done by professional trademark attorneys, which brings us to our next step; hiring a trademark attorney.

    2) A trademark attorney is responsible for market research with reference to your company’s trademark logo and can provide you with valuable advice on many aspects of trademark filing and services. The lawyer will also inform you about whether a logo exists that is similar to yours. He or she will then tell you if it is safe for you to proceed with the designed trademark logo as your company’s recognition. Thus, it is important for you to hire a good trademark attorney before you register your trademark logo.

    3) Then comes the filing procedure. Again, the services rendered by the trademark attorney will prove to be very useful in this step and sometimes a must. The filing procedure isn’t just one giant step towards a successful trademark logo, but rather a set of steps for registering.

Therefore, this step can be further divided into sub-steps:

    a. The first step towards a proper filing of a trademark logo is to mention the correct name and address of the person to whom the related correspondence will be sent. It could the company’s chairperson, CEO, Director, or any other managerial-level personnel.

    b. It is also significantly important to provide the proper and relevant description of the goods and services provided along with the trademark logo. Mention the description that will reflect the company’s product mission, expectations, benefits and offerings but in distinctive manner.

    c. You have to submit the application, a fee (usually $335) for processing of the file that is a modest amount compared to the benefits gained by registering your company’s trademark logo.

    d. Finally, a clear and legible illustration or sample of the trademark logo should be submitted with the application.

Though it may sound futile, it is however, an important step for your trademark process. Registering your logo will not only protect your trademark logo from being copied by others, it will also give the logo numerous benefits including, but not limited to, recognition, security and reliability.
