It's supposed to be a "P". I like it, personally.

Man, is that ugly.

Without the hole, it's a speech bubble. I'd assume it for was a chat app. If it's supposed to be an amalgamation of the 'P' and the 'S' then the slant should be on the other side, methinks. Either way, I still can't believe this got past senior designers, marketing and PR.

Okay, Im not sure I really liked the Ps thing but anyway, I also don't understand how the logo is associated with the software's function. Actually, I think the hole thing is supposed to go with the slogan i.e see what's possible as in peer through the hole.Like the bog.keep on.

I must say, that I am a fan of the Adobe CS2 set of Icons (although, I still like the CS3 ones too). Yeah, they're very illustrative - but to me, they conveyed a really powerful message about each program via metaphors that need not be deciphered, rather associated with the individual components. The new "logo" is brilliant, though....brilliant in the fact that this is the first logo I've ever seen that has served the purpose of totally destroying a strong branding presence in the adobe CS. Well done adobe "designers" - now will you please find another job! Great post by the way...

I was actually a huge fan of the full set of CS3 icons/logos. I loved the simplicity of it all, and I think in terms of brand recognition, Adobe did a great job at associating simple two-letter combinations with their products.

This is the first time I've seen the new identity and I'm as disappointed as everyone else seems to be. I'm also equally lost on the whole speech bubble/"P" concept for the logo. For a company promoting design software, they've certainly missed the mark on this one. I'd recommend hitting ctrl+z.

While the square "CS3" version of the logo says little about Photoshop itself, it is part of a fairly clever scheme to brand the application as part of the Adobe Creative Suite. Each application has a logo that looks like one element in the Periodic Table, so they make a much stronger impression when seen together than individually. I like this idea better than the "pretty flowers" logo system they used for CS1 and CS2.

If Adobe found a new logo system for their next suite that kept that same sense of unity but also hinted at what each application was used for then they would have a winner.

OK, this is stupid. I'm still wondering about the old, old logos. A butterfly? A feather? WTF? When they went to the "new" old logo, I was stoked because it was easy to associate icons to applications. As you can see below:

Feather = Photoshop?
Ps = Photoshop :)

Nice and easy. Designers are visual, but I don't need to decipher a metaphorical icon every time I want to edit a photo.

Now this bubble thing, I mean really. Whoever is doing their branding should be fired. This is ridiculous. Not only does the logo look completely dumb, but the tagline is even worse. The logo reminds me of the logos in Microsoft Office for Mac. They probably have the same agency do this logo. Utter garbage.

Your blog rocks. Post more often! Pleeeease? :D
