The eye is a big thing in logo design too. It's nicely done without being cliche.

This is a great resource right here. Thanks so much for posting this.

IMO, I think that the trend is going to go back to a minimalistic approach when it comes to logo designs. Maybe if 3d is cut back to the hybrid form of design, where it blends 2d and 3d elements, will be the straight and narrow. Personally I love when an artist utilizes negative space, color, and lines.

I have to agree with some of the other comments here, the logo's that display a 3D object just don't seem to cut it for me. They always look amateurish IMHO.

I also believe logo's are not designed within categories but people seem to place them in categories. Like the other people suggested, don't focus on following a trend, make the design specific to the client and innovate to the best of your ability.

I would say there was no such thing as a logo trend; logos have been pushing boundaries and changing games thanks to great designers all over the world. I would agree more with the whole eco thing - but thats just because its an international topic which is current or 'trendy' in some respects (i.e jumping on the eco bandwagon). I think logos are probably the hardest design element to trend because its more about what's right for the individual or company than what design style is current. Visual identities are meant to last a long while, if not a lifetime - just look at Apple or Nike for instance.
That's just my take anyway.
