With the present logo design awareness I think there is no need to explain the term ‘Negative Space’. To me, interpreting the negative space within a logo design is no child’s play and I deeply respect the designers who succeed coming up with such clever logo designs.
However, one never gets tired of admiring the beauty of negative space logos which skillfully portray a lot of things at the same time. Initially, we found this concept within few logos which are ranked among world’s best logo designs for their uniqueness…FedEx Logo, ED Logo and Yoga Australia Logo. But now, negative space logos have become the most positive aspect of logo design world.
So, for now, let’s just stop praising such logos and treat our eyes with some clever examples. |

Nice collection, like the zigzag one as its easy to read and remains abstract.
The Big Ten logo (which includes 11 schools) also uses negative space to show “11″ http://grfx.cstv.com/confs/big10/graphics/big10-08-hdr-logo.gif
The FedEx arrow is everywhere but was still an “a-ha” moment the first time I saw it

Well i don’t think so negitive space is create confusion. On the other hand it attract viewer attention to fetch more out of the image.
Also negitive space is waste part if anyone get dual message from that space its good for the company

I don’t think logos like these are confusing at all. I think they are thoughtful and engaging. And if someone sees both images and gets it, then it’s a great payoff to them. I love finding an extra little something in a logo. Do I think all of these are great, no, but the idea of positive/negative images to convey what the brand is, is what designers should strive to do with their logos.

[...] 40 Logo Designs with negative beauty – An interesting trick (logoblog). [...]
