Education Logos: An Overview

Categories: Logo Tutorial
Written By: Nora Reed

Educational institutes are not just a place where people are trained for in a particular discipline. They also refer to a more versatile approach of learning the true value of that discipline, and what better way to express the values of the institutions than expressing those on their logos. Logos are an organization’s main feature of recognition and must be used to portray the mission, culture and aim of the company. Education logos too, need to portray the value of the institute.
Education Logos
Structure:
Education logos should be conceptual and at the same time, simple. They should clearly state the institution’s achievement of being an innovative, leader in education, or simply offer to give a strong position in the market. The size of the fonts should also be kept standard, depending on the titles. The name of the institute should generally be kept larger than the slogan and the colors in the education logos should be bright to lure young minds.

Flexibility:

Education logos need to be flexible and adaptive. It should have the capability to look good on different mediums without losing its originality. The education logos should also compliment the flow of the object on which it has been placed. It must not abuse the object’s appearance and should look good when the logo is placed on it.
Education Logos
Design:
Designs used in education logos should also be simple and clearly defy the motive of the logo. Sometimes, there is no need to put designs on the logo (icons, images, etc.), as a monogram of the institute fulfills that need. Other times, images used, should be minimal and relevant.

As someone once said ‘the principle goal of education is to create men who are capable of doing new things, not simply of repeating what other generations have done’. Similarly, the principle goal of education logos is to convey the true identity of its carrier and not of someone creation. Thus, education logos should strive to be distinctive yet relevant.
