ICC World Cup 2007 Cricket Logos

Cricket is an international sport and has been around for hundreds of years. The first Cricket World Cup was organized in England in 1975. Since then, the Cricket World Cup tournament is being organized by the International Cricket Council (ICC), the sport’s governing body, after every four years. According to the ICC, the ICC Cricket World Cup is ‘the most important tournament and the pinnacle of achievement in the sport’.

The 2007 ICC Cricket World Cup is currently being held in the Caribbean islands from March 13 to April 28, 2007. The 2007 ICC Cricket World Cup’s official logo features a person stumping wickets with a ball in front of a palm tree, commemorating West Indies as the major host. The official mascot of 2007 ICC Cricket World Cup is an orange raccoon called “Mello” and the official song of this year’s Cricket World Cup, “The Game of Love and Unity”, has been sung by Shaggy, Rupee and Faye-Ann Lyons. This year’s ICC Cricket World Cup also marks a record breaking and historical change: along with the ten test-match playing countries, 6 more teams qualified for the Cricket World Cup making a total of 16 teams (the largest ever in the history of the Cricket World Cup). All these teams comprise of the following countries: Australia, Bangladesh, Bermuda, Canada, England, India, Ireland, Kenya, New Zealand, Netherlands, Pakistan, Scotland, South Africa, Sri Lanka, West Indies and Zimbabwe. Further more, this year the ICC Cricket World Cup witnessed 6 additional cricket logos entered its hall of fame.
