I know that this article is about 3 years old, but I just wanted to say that the image above is NOT the actual new NFL logo.

It was a 3d rendering that I made for the NFL Wikipedia page. Nobody had an official logo up, so I made that, and uploaded it. Little did I know that a ton of people ran with it, and used that 3D image, calling it "official"...

It is NOT official, like I said, just a 3D rendering I made in 3DS Max. Hope that clears anything up.

I like the new logo. It is cleaner and true fans may not even notice that the logo is different, while at the same time, knowing something is new. The perfect marketing design for change without causing a disruption.

NFL creative is clearly very good at their job.

PS. nice blog site you have here.

As the grandson of an NFL player in the '30s, I really rather not touch the logo. I know the game has changed and is far more comercial now, but one of the things that make football a great game is tradition. I would have hoped that the NFL would continue to reflect heritage in future decisions.

I like the new better than the old. However, I think a far better design is very possible with a bit of imagination.....

It took me to week 3 of the season to notice the change but I like it. The reduction of stars looks better to me and I always though the "L" in the previous logo looked kind of goofy. Finally, the football looks more realistic and I like that they tied it in with the Lombardi Trophy.
P.S.
I'll bet most fans won't even notice.

While it doesn't really matter, I think the old logo is overall more appealing. I don't like the change in shade from one end to the other, and the angle of the football. I also think it is, as previously stated, too "Web 2.0".

But really, I just want to see football so it doesn't matter.

GO PATS!

Terrible. What ever happened to leaving well enough alone? The font detracts from the heritage and history of the game. This looks like a "modernized" or "robotized" version of a timeless logo. In an era where teams are going back to their roots regarding uniforms and colors, why must the NFL try and make things easier? Sometimes easier (for printing and embossing) is not better. Stick with the old school design.
