Nintendo is a Japanese multinational corporation, holding the distinction of being the most powerful and oldest company in the video gaming industry. This small company, founded on September 23, 1889 by Fusajiro Yamuschi, in Kyoto, is now listed as the third most valuable company of Japan with a market value of more than US$85 billion. Nintendo Co, is the world’s biggest maker of handheld video-games, but initially it was created to manufacture high quality Japanese playing cards (hanafuda) but later dabbled in toys and electronic games.

Since the establishment of the company, it has had a generic logo that the company continues to use. The company manufactures products for different industries, so it prefers to hold a simple logo, which can easily represent the business in various fields. However, in 1977, the company started using a white background with a red fontgiving a universal appeal for the audience. The logo is clear-cut but not very professional. Clarity is the only prominent element of this logo, as it says the name of the company in bold letters.

Which is why companies like Nintendo that keep changing their target audience and product range like to keep simple logos that are clear and easy to recall.

Color: Red is the only color used in the logo, as it is a color, which manages to grab the attention of the viewers and reflect the vitality of the company. Usually colors like red, orange and black leave a strong impact on the viewer’s mind.

Font: The style of the fonts is one of the most recognizable aspects in the entertainment field and it makes the logo memorable. The distinctive logo font is considered as the trademark of Nintendo. The obvious, highlighted typeface makes this logo standout amidst different stylish logos.

Shape: Name of the company bounded in capsule shape, makes the logo look very childish and ordinary. Although it does not lend a feeling of professionalism, but still it is recognized worldwide. The psychological impact is stronger than the visual; the capsule suggests that the name is something to be reckoned with.

The fact is obvious that the company never hired professional services, to get its initial Nintendo logo designed. However, for its other entertainment products, such as Nintendo 64, Nintendo GameCube, Nintendo Wii, it has got effective and impressive logos designed. In short, the famous “Nintendo Logo” does not deliver unequivocal and complete information to its targeted customers in a very impressive way.
