The moment I read about it, I said to myself ‘My My…so much Space?’ It may come as a surprise for many, but the social networking site MySpace, is working on a new logo design that is expected to be revealed by the end of this year. The surprise move comes in the hopes that a fresh look would increase traffic on the social network. The logo concept was unveiled at Warm Gun Design conference in San Francisco in July. |

Giving ‘Space’ to the Users:The MySpace logo concept comes in the midst of several other logo design controversies taking place on the blogosphere. MySpace VP of User Experience Mike Macadaan enlightens his rationale behind the concept: |

Filling ‘My Space’:It is perceived that the blank space in the logo is to be filled by user generated artwork when users float over it on the redesigned site. After the horrific Gap logo disaster, we await the public reaction to MySpace logo redesign. But MySpace’s initiative is way better than Gap’s, as it takes its users on board for the redesign. |

not really my definition of “space”, but way better than the old logo.

the new logo looks great, but! it narrows the space to veiw what your doing, the black bar at the top and bottom are blocking the veiws, on the games etc. Id there away to minimize the size of all this. It makes it very hard to see things and play games..

To be honest I can’t quite make up my mind as to whether I prefer the old or the new logo. The newer logo is certainly self explanatory and more to the point, thus, showing that myspace is young and populated by a younger audience by the fact that it says ‘my’ and then the space bar, I associate it with text talk like ‘wuu2′ and other terms that are shortened and understood by a younger audience.
Maybe that’s an off the wall interpretation but the logo is simply, yet clever and i like how to the point it is.

Logo Design is really important. It could have the opposite effect because people are used to the old logo. On the other hand the old logo does seem too busy.

Yes, very good point. People familiarise themselves with one logo, and the change could backfire because of that. You never really know, it’s very much a waiting game.

Spot on with this write-up, I really think this web site wants way more consideration. I’ll most likely be once more to learn far more, thanks for that info.
